Hi All,

Big show on Saturday May 7th! We are performing at the MET in Pawtucket. It’s a newly opened venue owned by LUPO’s. Doors are at 8pm and our set time is 8:30pm. We are opening for local Funk/Reggae band FUNGUS AMUNGUS. Who I’m also a member of (keys, vocals) and we are releasing a new CD. Hope you can make it. This will be the JLB’s first local show in a while! Not To Be MISSED!

It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged so I figured we needed to say hi. Oh boy, what’s new? Lots of snow shoveling. IT was fun at first, but now it’s getting kind of old.

On the music front we are kind of in hibernation mood. Gonna be releasing a new LIVE EP from our recent show at The Ruins @ The Colosseum on Dec. 18th, 2010 as well as a sweet kick ass new promo video!

Looking forward to seeing what 2011 brings. Hopefully this music keeps spreading….Cause it’s only fallen on a few ears so far. Exposure exposure exposure is the name of the game right now. Just gotta figure out the best way to do it. Little by little I guess?

Nice To Meet You, I'm Johnny Lingo

I’ve always thought shaking hands is kind of archaic. Especially now that we live in a germ and disease spreading world, shaking hands is kind of dumb. However, everybody naturally does it and it’s difficult to avoid without being rude. People who know me personally have learned that I don’t like to shake hands and we’ve resulted to knocking elbows or the typical fist pump. But that’s not even something I’m into doing. Why can’t we just look each other in the eyes and say Hi? Isn’t that enough? Is it really necessary for us humans to touch each other’s greasy and dirty hands.

However, this is not the real reason I’ve decided to stop shaking hands. Recently I played piano for a wedding ceremony inside a church. It was for one song with my wife singing (Adele’s version of Make you Feel my love by Bob Dylan). Anyway we went to the church the day before to rehearse. As we were rehearsing the church organist walked in quietly. I could tell by his demeanor that he was conservative and didn’t have much of a personality. Especially when my wife asked him how we sounded and he said “fine.” Oh gee thanx for your enthusiasm buddy. So if on impulse after we finished practicing I figured it was common courtesy to introduce myself and shake Lloyd Carson’s hand. A name I will never forget. He shook my hand so freaking hard that it hurt. Not only that, I felt it in my hand for three days. When he gripped my hand in the death grip I kind of yelped and said, “Whoa.” He said, “I like a firm handshake.” At the time I was simply stunned and did not say anything. However after we left the church I was really pissed off at the guy for causing pain to my right hand. Especially since he knew I’m a piano player. I’m still considering writing the church a letter complaining of his handshake and to tell them that it is rude and could be hurtful to other people. Luckily my hand is still functional even though it did not feel right for several days after “Lloyd’s handshake.” By the way, if Mr. Lloyd ever happens to read this, your version of Pachelbel’s Cannon was lame. I can rock a way better version. Loosen up Mr. Stiffy.

So that’s it, no more hand shaking.

Hello Friends,

Unfortunately the New EP is not yet available online – i.e. download or to purchase a hard copy. There have been some hiccups regarding the artwork, track order, radio edits..etc! Before all of these issues came about I did order 100 copies (got about 20 left), however, now the first 100 is gonna be a rare collectible (unless you can manage to get a copy of the 20 or so I have left) cause I will be ordering redesigned versions. I’ll hold onto the few remaining copies (from the first 100 pressings) for the show this Thursday Sept. 2nd at Kennedy Plaza (Burnside Park). Remember it’s free, open to the public, and we play 2 sets from 5-7pm. Hope to see you!

ps. No this is not a marketing ploy to make you want one of my cd’s. But maybe it could be, or should be? Honestly, I only have 20 copies left of the first 100 pressings. Not sure where they all went…Time flies when you …I mean, CD’s fly when you…ummm idk.

So we just went up to Bangor Maine to be part of the KahBang Music festival.

We arrived to the city around 5:30 and went directly to our venue, the Sea Dog Brewery. It’s a pretty big restaurant/brewery and stay’s busy. I got excited thinking that we wouldn’t be playing to a room full of nobody and before you knew it we were carrying our instruments through a packed room.

The clock struck 10:30pm, and the set began. 1st song good, 2nd song good, 3rd song good, 4th song = not so good.

We were playing the song “Coward” (on the new EP). It turned out to be the most appropriate song for the moment. There were 4 guys standing by the side and one of them proceeded to heckle us by fake dancing. My hands began to sweat. AFter the first verse (as if Chase and I were telepathic), we stopped playing on the downbeat. I asked him, “Are you done?”. Thankfully they stopped and walked away but came back later for another minute to fake dance. It was difficult not to throw my glass of beer in his face. I can’t imagine what Chase was thinking, but after the show he waved his drum hardware in the air shouting “You want to dance! You want to dance! Let’s dance!!!” Luckily, the loser dudes were no where to be found and the night ended without instance. Not the best venue for our music, but we had a great experience and did make new fans regardless of a few mean people.

A day before the show I received 100 copies of my new EP, “Somewhere To Go”. I was excited and decided to bring the whole box to Maine. Unfortunately, I spaced after the gig and left them at the venue!

So this is my website! I plan on using it more.

What’s new?? Chase and I are heading up to Bangor Maine this weekend to perform at the Sea Dog Brewery on Friday Aug. 13th!

It’s gonna be a long 5 hr drive. Should be a fun time, as we generally have a good time together.

More shows on the way, in the meantime – back to practicing George Gershwin! I’ve been studying Rhapsody in Blue since X-Mas!

Well,  we are not really touring as of yet, but i just felt like starting a diary.

Two weeks ago we finished our first big trip together driving down to Mount Saint Mary’s Universiy near Gettysburg, Maryland.   Actually, the University is 10 minutes away from Camp David and the students get their cellphones monitored regulary…

The day of the show we didn’t leave until 12:30 pm and it was quite the white knuckle ride considering we had to be on stage by 9pm!  For those of you who have never driven down there from Providence….it’s a solid 7 hour drive – without traffic!

Anyway we made it in time to have a quick meal and get to the venue by 8:30pm (cutting it too close.)  Luckily 5 students were eagerly waiting our arrival and immediately carried all of our equipment out of my car!  We didn’t have to lift a finger.  Thank you

The venue was in one of the oldest buildings on campus, a renovated church I think, and the acoustics were phenomenal.  I felt like we were being blessed by the old spirits inside and the show flew by.  Before we knew it, we had already played for an hour and a half straight through.  Everybody in the audience stayed for the entire show and we kept on hearing people shout “More!” after each song.  At first I thought they were asking us to play my new song which is titled “More”, but silly me finally got that they just wanted us to keep on playing!

AFter playing the show, the students stuck around for CD’s and Q&A, then of course graciously helped us load out to get some shut eye.

When we arrived at our hotel it was way better than expected.  The normal hotel that the University provides for their entertainment entourages was full, so we got a guest suite at the infamous Wyndam hotel!  The place has a special vibe to it, with stars on the rugs, and portraits of past presidents on every wall.  Really cool I must say.  The beds were amazingly comfortable as I pretty much immediately went to bed and Chase stayed up late to explore the hotel.

The next morning after a restful night’s rest and starting our day off watching “I Am Legend,” we packed up and sped03 Drive back home.  Unfortunately there was no time for sight seeing on this trip.  A place of interest was the “Crystal Cave

Happy Friday people!   Are you not loving the cool fall breeze today?  it’s so refreshing

So last night was a blast.  When we arrived at the venue, we were a little concerned that anybody was gonna come….but once doors opened there were a steady flow of Wheaton students checking us out.  Much thanks to the energetic girls dancing around to our songs!  Some of them were really busting a move!  It felt great to play in front of new people and further our music.  We played for about an hour and half straight with 3 songs we made up on the spot.  Which, unfortunately I forget em… need to be recording more/all shows.  One of the them was a funky song with the chorus saying…..”Myself – Myself – Myself to blame!”  Obviously hard to hear what it sounds like without the melody,  the chords were Cminor to Fminor to Bflat dominate to Eflat dominate to dminor(but sometimes BFlat).   ANYWAY –  if you are reading this and play music,  jam out on those chords!

At the end of the night we were told we get $20 bucks of free food!  So we had to order a ton of stuff that we couldn’t finish… and munched on some veggie burgers and veggie quesadillas and fries and salad and milkshakes and nachos and chicken fingers and water and beer and salsa and whatever they would give us cause the prices were mad cheap!

Well, if that does happen…I’ll have to thank that girl for her psychic abilities! What was her name? maybe she’ll read this….
